Into the Jungle

The wildlife corridors in Nepal's southern plains are central to the survival of endangered bengal tigers and one horned rhinos, and the ecosystem they are a part of. But poaching and human wildlife conflict remain serious threats. Our partnership with the Fund for Tiger and its work to engage local youth in conservation has been effective, and tiger population has nearly doubled.

In the Hills

In 2007, we started STOP Girl Trafficking in Udayapur by enrolling 60 girls in school. This year, 848 girls are enrolled in 29 schools there! Our Udayapur SGT Alums are socially active in their communities, and enlisting to mentor SGT girls, and be the important Friday Class teachers. Trafficking in Udayapur is not yet defeated. So we are fighting!

The 2015 quake that devastated Nepal did not spare the 400 year old Khumjung Gompa either. Rebuilt since, it is once again filled with chants and prayers, its walls covered with traditional paintings and thangkas that makes it whole.
