Khapse offering for Losar
Today marks the beginning of Losar, the Tibetan Year 2144 of the Fire Rooster. Among the many preparations, making khapse cookies as an offering to the gods—and also to eat!—is one of the most celebrated. Tibetans sip a rice beer called changkol first thing Losar morning to begin the day with joy and good fortune, with hope for it to remain through the year.
